Indications
for surgery are varied depending on age, weight,
height and other co-existing diseases.
Standard accepted guidelines generally include
patients between the ages of 18 and 65, with a BMI
of 40 or greater, or patients with a BMI between 35
to 40 paired with serious weight-related medical
problems (click here to
calculate your BMI). Additionally, there must
be confirmation that other means for losing weight
have been attempted and/or exhausted. Finally,
you should attend one of our informational seminars.

Exceptions to
these guidelines are common, and are determined on
an individual basis. Ultimately, the surgeon
group, in collaboration with your physician, will
determine whether you are a candidate for weight
loss surgery.
